Just submitted my filing for The Sounding Post, LLC, a limited liability company registered in the State of Texas.

This is pretty exciting, I have to say.

Somehow, taking the step of registering a business “makes it official” in a way that all the previous activity hasn’t (e.g., employing dozens of freelancers, drafting tens of thousands of words, conducting a successful Kickstarter campaign for the first installment).

Word to the wise, folks: always, at a minimum, form an LLC if you’re going to conduct business activities.

I’ve seen people with sole proprietorships lose everything they own because they are personally liable if they are simply an individual who is “doing business as” Acme Business Company.
